Searching on exact duplicates is one of 5 methods within the program for locating duplicate files.

Identical File Names: Files have the same name (i.e. readme.txt) however everything else about (dates, content) them could be different. You can use secondary tools within the results display to determine if they are actually duplicated.  This is the fastest search available but yields the least valuable information as to whether a file should be deleted. If you know your files and folder structure, this is a good way to trim out duplicates.

Exact Duplicates: Files have the same name and their content is the same.  However file dates could be different. This takes a little longer to run but you know you are investigating files that are truly the same.

Identical Content: Files could have the same name but may not also. But, they are grouped together within the results display.  This search takes a long time and should be run after the Exact Duplicates search described above.

non-Type Specific: This is a specialty search designed to find files that have the same name but have different file extensions (for example: readme.txt and readme.doc or readme.bak).   Special care should be used when deleting files with this search.  You need to know what you are doing.

Microsoft Word Duplicate Content: This is a specialty search that is available from the main form of the program under Misc. Utilities. It can take some time to process.  The goal is to examine Word Documents on content only by extracting out the document's text and comparing it to other Word Documents.  Microsoft Word Documents can be the same inside but have different sizes (therefore not 'exact duplicates') because one document was printed on a specific printer. These and many other statistical values are maintained within the document file. This tool is a major feature not found in other programs on the market except for some very expensive specialty tools.
